My story

After several failed attempts to fall in love with a 9-5 job and a diminishing desire to climb the corporate ladder I knew I needed to find something that fulfilled me. I found that “thing” while purchasing my first home. While buying my home with my husband I realized that I was so excited to build a home and a space I loved for myself and my husband.

What I realized through the home buying process though was that the real estate industry seriously lacked home buyer education and there was a thick facade of how enjoyable the journey actually was. I felt dragged through the process, constantly tripping over an unexpected request or decision that needed to be made with little guidance.

I knew if I could help someone feel the same joy I did when I bought a home but give them a better experience. In my journey to help people find and sell their homes I have realized the true lack in education and understanding of the process of purchasing, selling, and building a home. As the largest single financial transaction we make in our lives I find it concerning that there isn’t more information provided about what to expect along the way in homeownership. With that in mind I have made it a core of my business to educate home buyers and sellers on the path to purchasing a home and what it means to become a homeowner. I truly believe that this knowledge gives people confidence and you should be nothing less than confident when it comes to your home.

The contrast of my expectation with the reality of home buying disappointed me. After our closing, when I thought I’d be thrilled, I remember feeling exhausted and declaring “I don’t want to buy another house.” As I sat on top of my counters in my new house that afternoon, talking to my husband, I made the connection that the experience should be better, it should match what people expected it to be, and I could be the person to create that memorable, enjoyable major life milestone. I knew what lacked in my own experience I could bring to other buyers and later sellers and people hoping to build.
