Richmond Homearama 2018

Yesssss!!!! It is Homearama opening weekend in Richmond! This is one of my favorite events in #RVA. It switches between Homearama (spring) and Massey Street of Hope (fall). If you don't know, Homearama is yearly event put on by the Home Builders Association of Richmond that highlights multiple new construction builders in some of Richmond's best pre-planned neighborhoods. This year Homearama is in the Moseley neighborhood of Magnolia Green. In general my favorite thing about this weekend is the incredible inspiration you get from viewing the homes these amazing Richmond builders have designed. If you want to get a special edition of Favorite Five on Monday be sure to jump on the email list. I’ll be sharing the must-hit houses and my favorite items from Greenfront exclusively with those subscribers. For those heading out for opening weekend like me here’s a list of my must-have and must-do items while you’re out at Magnolia Green.

Have a Fully Charged Phone

If you’re like me you’ll be snapping photos left and right of all the amazing tile selections, decor, and wood beams! This event is meant to inspire you so bring that fully charged up phone and get ready to add some photos to your Dream Home board on Pinterest. (psst...speaking of Pinterest boards, you can follow mine here.)

Take Breaks

This is a marathon not a sprint. There are seven houses to see that are two or three (yes three!) floors each. Take your time and enjoy the lounge area. There are usually food trucks, music, and more.

BRING YOUR ID

Speaking of taking breaks, be sure to bring your ID so you can enjoy a nice glass of wine or a beer. You can take your beer into some houses but it’s nice to sit in an adirondack chair, enjoy the weather, and take a break from the houses. (Beer will be served Thursday evenings and weekends.)

Ask for Handouts

Love a paint color? Need to know where those appliances came from? Most of the builders will provide handouts with their paint selections, tile selections, and additional home information. Be sure to chat with the hosts of the home and grab a style sheet.

Tell Them What You Like

One of the things that I think is so great about Homearama is that a lot of the builders partner with local artists and Greenfront Furniture and at the end of the show they sell the pieces in the home! If you love a piece in the home let the hosts know. Some of them will put you on a buying list and give you a call or text at the end of the show to let you know how much a piece is being sold for. There's also a shopping day at the end of the month! Side NoteI always love the Biringer Builders home because they partner with the artists from Yellow Door Art (@yellowdoorartrva) and all the artwork is for sale. I have several pieces I have been in love with from them and can’t wait to pick out my new favorites this year. So if you go and fall in love with one of these great homes come find me. Most of the homes are actually for sale and people do buy them before the month is over. If you’re in love call me and I’ll help you make it yours!Only 24 hours to go! I can’t wait! I hope to see you there. If you’re from out of town or just can’t make it watch my Insta Stories (@RVAHomeswithJess) to get a glimpse of some of these beautiful homes. Don’t forget to sign up to get the special edition Favorite Five from Homearama on Monday!

Happy Hunting,

Jess
