One of the selling trends that has emerged in recent years is home staging. Staging your home helps it appear as a blank canvas while still keeping it warm. One of my go-to places for picking out pieces to stage a space is Paisley & Jade. Owners, Perkins Morgan and Morgan Montgomery, always help me find the best pieces for my clients so I asked Perkins to give me her best staging advice to share with you all!

What do you think makes the biggest impact when staging a house?
I think the largest impact when staging a home is a clean, simple yet purposeful layout. You do not need to overwhelm the space with lots of “stuff” but the rule of “less is more” goes a long way! Picking pieces with character that compliment the home with a balance of neutrals and pops of color.
What is your favorite piece to use in staging?
It is impossible to just pick one favorite piece! I’m a sucker for rugs. They can change the whole look of a room & add that pop of color to add character to a very neutral feel and not take away from the home’s character. Another wonderful piece to work with is the wooden baker’s rack to add juxtaposition to a modern kitchen to hold glassware & plates!
What is your favorite staging project you’ve worked on so far?
The most exciting project we have been a part of so far was the opportunity to have been on HGTV for a pilot with Cobblestone Development Group & Native Nest. P&J had the opportunity to provide a handful of furniture props for the remodel!
Our favorite project thus far was a product shoot with LUFT beds executed by Land of Adam at our showroom here in Richmond. They picked out super fun pieces to pull off their product shoot!
If you had one tip for staging your home what would it be?
Less is more! We really act as the prop shop for interior designers to work with to complete looks but the best looks we have seen have been simple and purposeful design to show off the space.
